Given that Jane's grandarents have the surname COOK, I'd suggest that the marriage I posted above (Edward FOY & Catherine Elizabeth COOK) is more plausible. Christine

I'm still looking Linda I suspect that Elizabeth Cook and Martha Ruffle are Sisters....I will look into this In the 1851 census Thomas and Ann Cook have a Henry Knight as a visitor and Martha and Lawrence Ruffle have a Henry Knight visiting them in ermm 1881(I think,I can't remember now, I will have to re-check!!!)

I Think the info we have given you so far is correct but you should check it out and make sure you are happy with it before you add it to your tree......to sum it up Elizabeth wed Frederick Foy Date unknown but could the the marriage posted They had Jane Foy 1858 Elizabeth dissappears - probably dies Frederick re-marries a Frances (see other marriage posted) and has more children 1861 Census Jane is with Grandparents 1871 Jane possibly in orphanage (Her birthplace says Aldershot - Aldershot,Farnham,Frimley are all part of Farnham district) 1881 Living with Aunt Martha who could be Ann/Elizabeth's sister Let me know what you think Deb

Hi Deb You obviously don't feel that the marriage of Edward Foy in June qtr of 1851, possibly to a Catherine Elizabeth Cook (Jane Foy's grandparents, with whom she's living in 1861, are called Cook) has any bearing on this case? Christine

Do you have deaths for the grandparents between 1861 and 1871? If you do then that might point to her being the Jane Fox in the orphanage.
