in 1871 I have Thomas Scott B: 1836 Waltham Kent Kaziah Scott B: 1843 Wickhambreux Kent in 1881 Thomas SCOTT M 48 Waltham Martha SCOTT F 43 Whitstable both are at the same farm?

may be he remarried ?

then in 1891 hes with keziah at a different place

Martha a nickname ? second name ?

im not sure but it seems like 1 Thomas scott but 2 wifes and 2 sets of children maybe im doing some thing wrong

One of my gr grandfather's seems to have married 3 times - two of the wives are Elizabeth and one is called 'Lixey' on a census return !! But their ages and places of birth differ so I assume they are different women. Still to find marriage certs - what a nightmare! Many sympathies and good luck with your one! Jill

a bigamist i wish i knew maybe i would get some where i know kaziah s maiden name was johnson she had a child call kaziah martha johnson. and the martha had a child called thomas rigden and all this going on at white acre farm in waltham

elaine you could be right i know thats them and i hope that the thomas is the same thomas i just can not find any other details on them other than the census

I would say its a different Thomas - I can´t see any connection between the two to say it would be the same man, apart from both being born in Waltham.

Add to Elaine's message John aged 14 and Lily aged 12. I can see Thomas and Martha and family in 1881 and 1891 at Whiteacre in Waltham. Jill

If you go back to the 1861 census you can see there are two Thomas born about the same time. Thomas Scott abt 1832 Waltham, Kent, England Servant Goodnestone Kent and Thomas Scott abt 1833 Waltham, Kent, England Son Waltham Kent

1871 census found Thomas and Kezia - with their two children John (3) and Fanny (1) and Kezia's daughter Martha (6) This must be the other Thomas then. Jill The odd thing is though that in 1881 with Thomas and Martha is father in law - James Rigden (b. Whitstable, retired farmer) aged 81. So he's Martha's father?
