Hi Kate I was refering only to the success board since to post on the others, you have to be a responsable person who is serious about the subject AND pay the price of joining the group. OOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH how I detest freeloaders and that is basically what they are e.g. Please Please Please OH Please help me. I cannot afford to pay the subscription price but would like some dear kind person to send me all they have on my family as I am desperate to find them. [They then list just names but no dates or areas] GET REAL. I have no truck with these cretins OR am I being to harsh? Answers on a pin head to!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would like to say to you all, that i did read the thread posted last night, not normally using the message boards, i decided to peruse and post a success story, a little later was showing the OH the boards as we both frequent GR i thought it may be useful for her in her searches as well as mine, was disgusted to read it, reported it to the abuse manager (not sure i would want that as my title) and received a reply fairly quickly, must say i have seen the site slow over the weekend and was not anticipating anything from them so quickly. I must add that i agree about non paying members having the freedom to post, when it is not useful but hurtful. And yes i spend a lot of time tapping too. It is through the very helpful people from GR that i do keep coming back, and must say there have been plenty of them. It's become fanatical for people to look into their family history and these timewasters must be made to pay or not allowed to post. the only downside to these mindless individuals is that they have managed to get a thread started from the paying people, this way they keep the annoyance up. I personally believe we should not respond to the ridiculous postings of these aloof, crazed, mindless morons, but keep the postings to the helpful useful friendly site GR has become. I would hate to lose the contacts i have made because of this type of dribble. Steve xx

Missed it all...............again. I don't know how anyone is managing to post anything...and again ....read anything....this thread was started last night......I have only managed to get on GR this morning (21st)......what the h.ll is going on...........I think they've blocked me by mistake. Maybe they blocked me so my innocent eyes wouldn't see anything nasty ..lol Jean

Success Board looks very nice at the moment, and Betty Boo, Deborah and Reg should definitely look on there at Jane's message. I do think that GR should make the Success Board only available for posting to paid-up members, and make it 'read-only' for non-members. That way they could still use it to attract new members but they should avoid most of the problems with it. Kate.

I emailed the abuse board for the first time last night cutting and pasting the offensive posting - no reply yet. I wonder if we could find a web address for the complaints department at ITV. I would hatw to see a useful site ruined.

I have sent a copy of the success board posting to GR this morning asking them why they allow people to post on Success for FREE. Surely those who post on success are already members who have had success on GR, that is the point of it. WHY would someone who is not a paying member WANT to post anything on there in the first place. It doesn't make sense so why have this facility available to them. Kat

Websterbfc Report 21 Aug 2006 07:48

didnt see the post you are talking about, and am guessing it has gone at last as only sucesses seem to be on secess board today...shame i cant say only chat is on chat board lol seems to periodically turn into trying to find board lol i agree with you guys that gr need to do something to stop this happening and fast, although i am not gonna email them as i have never had a reply from any of my emails, including the inquiry/complaint about my renewal fee, so i cant see the point you are also right that there are alot of weirdos out there and we should all protect our personal information. it is hard when you have chatted to peeps for a long time and start feeling like you know them..even if you have never actually met them, but as OC rightly said, anyone can view these boards, you have no idea who is signed on and who is observing our converstaions so i would like to say a little hello to all those who just watch from the shaddows..you would have so much more fun if you actually joined in, but i guess that is your choice, and to the weirdos i say, go somewhere else, coz we are interested in family history research here and have no interest at all in your stupid, rude or offencive remarks sorry rant over lol Jo

What annoys me about this BIG person is that it???? have had to hide behind a pseudonym and then sits back and laughs at the hurt he/she/it causes ,I'll have to check the dictionary for the definition of the word Honest, the meaning seems to have changed in the last few years Sheila

All GR have to do,is tweak the system a bit - they dont seem to be able to do that. Just make all the boards usable to PAYING members only, stop these non paying morons from having not only a sound board, but a free one at that. They could still post their vile messages, but at £9.50 a go ( post a nasty , then delete themslves) it would hopefully slow them down a bit. Jess

Willow Report 21 Aug 2006 01:35

Sorry, but I think GR should shut the general thread and only allow people who are paid members with their genuine genealogy related questions to post.

Thats only because they can't post on these boards and thank heavens for that. Kat

Sadly, I do think some of the postings I see on the boards are from people who have, shall we say, 'chemical imbalances'. Fortunately, they don't appear to be interested in genealogy and they stay off this board. Rose

It will only stop when the men in the yellow van turn up on his doorstep with the strait-jacket and syringe. By the way, apparently a WUM is a wind-up merchant. In the vernacular a Troll is somebody who constantly posts malicious messages to get a reaction.

Hmmmm.... you may have a point here Merry, Katarzina and OC. This dressing gown stinks, the voices are back again and the head in my freezer is crawling with maggotts.
