who is the real sarah pudney??????????

Well I think the 1841 Gt. Wigborough Sarah is probably the right one but keep on checking.

ive seen that in the 1851 as a servant, and theres a good chance it could be her. sue, i do think your on the right track! i wish i could find why i realized i was tracing wrong family. im sure i found one of the brothers staying with his sister and her husband and she had married someone else

Sarah Pudney from Braintree is a servant in London in 1851.

Yes there is a John and Hannah Pudney in Braintree in 1841 with a 12 yrold Sarah and other children, so this is probably the marriage I found. HO 107/331/12 - Braintree Sch. 49, Page 29

Well this Sarah was the only one of near the age you first mentioned in 1841. The other two Sarahs of a young age in Essex in 1841 didn't have fathers called John.

Was watching this then the computor crashed Looked through the census images for Pudneys in the village in 1841 Only 2 famlies there were - John, James and Sarah as mentioned before and Thomas 50, Sarah 22, Susan 11 and Ann 1 So only one Sarah of approx right age living there in1841 Kay

im frantically searching for the evidence here, to no avail, but im sure thinking back, that sarah with parents john & hannah married someone else. although im sure now there are 2 john & hannahs

SUE, THE FAMILY I FOUND IN THE PARISH RECORDS WERE JOHN & HANNAH. this is the worrying bit because the sarah i was tracing with parents JOHN& hannah TURNED OUT to be the wrong one. what do you think?

There are two Hannah Pudneys who died in the Lexden district before 1841 whcih covers Gt. Wigborough Name: Hannah Pudney Year of Registration: 1838 Quarter of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep District: Lexden County: Essex Volume: 12 Page: 85 Name: Hannah Pudney Year of Registration: 1839 Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun District: Lexden County: Essex Volume: 12 Page: 103

Going by the 1851 census John Pudney was born in Halstead and Boyds marriage index throws up the following marriage in Braintree which isn't far from Halstead Maybe a longshot 1828 /PUDNEY JN/ DUNCOMB HAN / BRAINTREE /ESSEX

The same Sarah that Reggie found is still in Colchester in 1861 and an unmarried mum with a 4yr old son called William. Her occupation is a tailoress.

im sure that one is one of the few possibles is it normal to be quite out on the ages??? is there noone else there with them?
