i am looking for my grandmother ive found two which i think may be her on one of them,how can i tell it dont say a year on there??? any tips please

yes madien name around 1895 ish

not sure of county,my sister did say one of her sisters lived in london, she married my grandfather dec 1924 i know she was 24 when she married,i can get lots on my grandfather but not on winifred ,i think the stricklands dont want to be found!!! my sister also recalls that she may have been a LADY of some kind

I have looked at the marriages on the complete index on Ancestry and there is no marriage in 1924 for a Winifred Strickland. If she married in 1924 and was 24 when she got married then her birth must have been about 1900 and not as early as you thought. What was your grandfather's name? Kath. x

just noticed someone gave me this yesterday arthur w sugg married winifed k stickland perhaps its STIICKLAND WITHOUT THE R ...........PERHAPS thats why i cant find her???

There is a Katherine W Strickland who married a William H Melhuish in the sept quarter 1924, what was your grandfathers surname? Georgina.

Wendy I would try and get the marriagee cerificate first as that will give you her father's name. Then go for the birth. Pauline

what was her married surname? if she died between 1983-2004 her birth date if they knew it will be on there as well as death Jeanette

Perhaps you should start with getting your mother or father's (whichever was your grandmother's child) birth certificate first. That way you would have the correct names of both your grandparents. Then you can work backwards. Kath. x
