Hi Lindy, I'm not sure if you're aware of the Yemms living in close proximity in/on Plump Hill. Same family? Hope this is of use... or does it just muddy the waters? :-) 1841: Plump Hill:- George Yemm b1798 Charlotta Yemm b1896 and family as posted. A few doors away... Esther Yemm b1816 Mibsom (Milsom) Yemm b1821 Sarah Yemm b1835 1851: 13 Plump Hill:- Richard Baldwin b1802, Esther Baldwin b1817 William Yemm b1843 — brother in law (aged 8?!) Jas Yemm b1847 — son Richard Yemm b1850 — son 16 Plump Hill:- Richard Bernard b1821 Mary Bernard b1849 George Yemm b1837 (stepson) 17 Plump Hill:- Enoch Yemm b1822 ...and George and family were still at No 28. And just one final 'find' JAMES TRIGG Marriages: Spouse: CHARLOTTE YEAM Marriage: 09 OCT 1814 English Bicknor, Gloucester, Source Information: Batch No: M036081 So was Charlotte already related to George before she married him???? Cousins??? Have to leave you with that, as kids want computer. I'll see if anyone has come up with any updates later.

I think this is her birth reg Collin King 1841 Dec qtr Westbury-on severne which covers East Dean. She is working as a servant in Herefordshire in 1861, marries Arthur Lacey in 1865 at St Giles London. She is transcribed as Ellin Lacey in 1871 although it clearly says Collin on the image. Also found as Collin in 1881,1891 and 1901 Maureen

BINGO!!!!! LUCY TRIGG Christening: 14 JAN 1821 Mitcheldean, Gloucester, England Parents: Father: JAMES TRIGG Mother: CHARLOTTE Batch No: C030281 This couple had James 1815, Abia 1817, Lucy 1821 and Eliza 1824. Found this on NBI, can't trace the place on my map but could it be mistranscribed and be the right James? James TRIGG Date 7 Oct 1824 Aged 42 Place ABENHALL, St Michael Glos. Update - Abenhall/Abinghall is the same place, spelling changed over time. George and Charlotte had a 14 year old Arabella with them in 1841 so probably married 1824-1827. Haven't found the record yet but I'm looking.

The family living next door to George and Charlotte in 1841 Census are a young couple with the surname King. Joseph King 25 Lucy King 20 From IGI COLLINE KING Christening: 30 OCT 1841 Abinghall, Gloucester, England Father: JOSEPH KING Mother: LUCY Batch No: C024031 Marriages Dec 1840 DILKE Eliza Westbury On S 11 709 FRYER William Westbury on S 11 709 HAWKINS Harriet Westbury 11 709 ***KING JOSEPH Westbury on S. 11 709 MORGAN Mary Westb. on Sevn. 11 709 ***TRIGG LUCY Westbury on S. 11 709 TURLEY Joseph Westbury on S 11 7 So, could Charlotte have been George's 2nd wife and Lucy or Joseph her child from a previous marriage?

I has a look on Family search thinking maybe George and Charlot had other daughters that could have married and been the mother of 'coling' (Coleen or Caroline seem the most likey names) Extracted records are: 1. CHARLES YEM - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 20 MAY 1831 Abinghall, Gloucester, England 2. ELIZA YEM - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Christening: 28 JAN 1840 Abinghall, Gloucester, England (Deaths Jun 1840:- YENM Eliza Westbury on Severn 11 387) 3. ARABELLA YEM - International Genealogical Index Gender: Female Christening: 11 FEB 1827 Abinghall, Gloucester, England 4. THOMAS YEM - International Genealogical Index Gender: Male Christening: 24 MAR 1835 Abinghall, Gloucester, England but some one submitted the following as another daughter (there is an extracted record for this girl with the details as below - only spelt Yemm) Jane Yem Birth: Christening: 07 JUN 1829 Michelldean, , Gloucester, England Any posability she could be a step-grand-daughter? I was thinking maybe Charles married young to an older woman but have found him in 1861 and his wife is about his age (and again in 1871 but wih double barled surname:- Basley Yemm)

Sorry, can't find her - do you think it's possible that the name was misheard and may have been Caroline and she could have married by the 1861 census?

Joy

Joy Report 1 Jan 2007 09:30

First names can be tricky because the enumerator writes them down as he/she hears the name said - I have in my family a Caroline who is on a census as Cary and on another as Caryline.

Yem is an interesting surname - I just put that and the year 1851 and there are only 52 of them. I'll have a look for her. BRB.
