There are so many things that this site offers, with number one being the help I/we all get from the members. I have had so much advice and help that it is worth every single penny of the fee. Its a bit like going to the library, you only borrow books that are of interest to you. Kathlyn

Hi Frances, The marriage Heather found looks a strong possibility. If it were me I would take a punt on sending for the certificate. I find the Findmypast is the easiest way to do it, just pay the standard £7. Getting to know your way round the online facilities takes months, Freebmd is one of the most useful. Advice from other members on here has knocked down several brick walls for me: unfortunately I have a reinforced concrete one as well which has so far stood the test of time despite loads of help from members.

hi Frances , yes i agree with others you must give it a go , i been on this site two years when i started i knew nothing , i not brill even now but with help of other kind people on this site i have got my line back to 1621 and not far away on my mothers line either , I made one promise to myself i wasnt going to spend a fortune to get my info its prob only cost £150 in two years that cheap for one of the best hobbies you,ll ever have don t just look up names but try and get some history about your ancestors too makes it worthwhile doing . now as your new to this there are alot of free sites on net and some expensive ones . dont belive every thing as some that cost money to look up names actually get things wrong ie my grandfather Charles octavius willson in 1901 cencus on ancestort.com is mis inscribed and this can caquse alot of confution. and if you have surname like mine well youll find it spelt all diffrent ways . so best of luck Frances hope all goes well for you . give these sites ago as they are free familysearch.com, free bmd, and you can get some info into military ect from National archives.

I had similar problems at first until I checked out Free BMD, If you have any certificates they will have registry entry no's and you do get to see the entry free, worth a try
