One of my friends couldn't find a particular family on the 1881 census,she looked at the discs,also the film of the census amny years ago.No luck.Then she contacted the Govt people in charge of census and they told her that the particular street she was looking for had been missed out by the enumerator for some reason.

Thank you Georgina! I don't think thats them though. They must have been living somewhere else at the time. I think it is quite possible that they left, maybe to find work, with everyone, except Mary. Maybe they all left to go to different places and returned at different times? So many possibilities! She married a John McGowan in 1871. She's on the 1881 Scotland census. Good thinking though!! xx

I have Bridgets death in 1891. She died in cowgate, edinburgh. She was widowed some time before 1885, but after 1878. The whole fact that they were agricultural labourers in the 1840/50s, has got me thinking about the potato famine, and how they must have been a part of it somehow. Maybe they went somewhere to find work, didn't succeed and came back? I don't know. Ive been searching for Anthony in particular for absolutely ages now! If i could just get his death cert. id be a happy little bunny! Thank you so much for spending so much time looking for me. You must be shattered! I know i am! Jodi I have searched the whole of scotland & they seem to have vanished in 1881, have you found Bridget or Anthony's deaths? Maybe they went back to Ireland for a visit. I will search for a while longer & then I am off to bed. Georgina.

Anthony and Bridget were agricultural labourers in 1851. I think Anthony has had the same kind of profession on all certs ive seen. (farm labourer, gardeners lab., ag. lab. etc.)

Yes, thats them. Ive got the certs of all the children except Thomas and Andrew, but im hoping to get to the FHO next week.

Yes, all born in Edinburgh. Except Peter, I have mixed, Edinburgh and Dundee. Haven't got their occupations to hand. Hold on and ill just go check.
