been looking at the workhouse site and put in the blaby workhouse how do i find the list of inmates it just says they are to be added is there another site that might give the names of the inmates in 1851 trying to find hannah barsby in the blaby union to see if it will tell me anything about her sarah

The list of people in the workhouse is on the 1851 census on Ancestry - which I thought was what you had already found. It doesn't give any other information on Hannah except her age and the fact she is an orphan, born Oadby. Leicestershire. Kath. x

I doubt if it will Sarah, they probably just list the people and nothing else. You would need the records - at the relevant records office to see if any info is added - you could try emailing the office.

They may charge you a few quid or something to send any info - but worth it.

records office could confirm hannah barsby was in blaby union in 1851 but thats all nothing on why she was their but they did say she wasnt there in 1861 so could some kind person on here lookk up hannah barsby in 1861 for me she was born 1839 oadby she maybe married in 1861 or she may have died any info would be great thanks sarah

Can't find her as Hannah Barsby on the 1861 census, but there is this marriage on the partially transcribed marriage index on Ancestry:- Name: Hannah Barsby Year of Registration: 1856 Quarter of Registration: Apr-May-Jun District: Leicester (1837-1974) County: Leicestershire Volume: 7a Page: 284 Spouse EITHER John Thomas Collin, OR Thomas Freeman. Hi Sarah, Have found Hannah Barsby as a servant on the 1861. Do you have Ancestry ? Joan

Also found a marriage in Sept 1862 Billesdon (leicestershire) to a William Busby, but can't see them on the 1871.

On a roll now. Assumptions and nothing proven but that fit ! Married in Sept 1862 Hannah dies in sept 1864. William remarries Dec 1866 to Emma Hornbuckle. Found William and Emma on 1871 with children George 5 William 3 and Louisa 1. Living next door to Edward Barsby !!!!!

Sounds pretty good to me Joan - but as you say, Sarah will have to check these details to be sure. Kath. x
