Meanwhile, I am struggling to make the connection between the junior and senior branches, despite the fact that Amelia b 1832 and Sarah b 1817 seem to have swapped families in 1841. It would be good if we could get either Thomas (b 1809) or his wife back to Suffolk - but they are both sure that they were born in London on each census; alternatively Thomas senior and his wife to London for a while - but you have a baptism to Thomas and Ann. I have found a Thomas Walter Robinson marrying a Maria Longwood on the IGI in 1829 in Ipswich - which ties into the baptism of Maria there in 1830. Unfortunately the IGI is silent on a possible christening for Maria Longwood around 1806. Think that I too will call it a day for now on this one - all the best.

I think this is definitely the right family. Also found on IGI said to be from Bishop's transcripts for Suffolk all baptised 6 Aug 1848 and all parents Thomas and Maria Sarah, Emma, Susannah and William Henry Walter. So maybe Emma didn't die in 1843 and there should be a Susannah somewhere. These are the children after frederick who of course had been baptised earlier. Amelia and Frederick were baptised together so maybe the parents had them 'done' in job lots - some of mine did Plus Maria baptised 27 Jun 1830 St Mary Towers Ipswich which is a submitted record

IGI for children of Thomas Robinson and Maria in Suffolk for christenings 1835 +/- 20 years brings up the senior family (including Sarah 1817), and a batch of christenings in August 1848 including William Henry Walter. It's going to need some teasing out, because there are two Thomas Robinsons in Ipswich in 1861, born in 1787 and 1789 (although the 1789 one was not born in Ipswich, so this should help to separate them).

Andrea Do you think this is the right family etc?

Susan

Susan Report 23 May 2007 19:01

Nancy What info did you have before today, was it just census stuff or did you have any actual baptisms for any of the children. I did find one for a Maria, daug of Thomas and Maria in 1830 in Ipswich on the IGI

Susan

Susan Report 23 May 2007 18:58

I think Amelia is an extra child for you to add to the family. Just try and digest what is here, its a lot to take in. You still don't sound very convinced.

Whitenancy

Whitenancy Report 23 May 2007 18:55

thank you sue for your patience my head i spinning trying to work out who is who. So as i thought Emma died young but that still leaves Amelia and what about the older Thomas and co in later census? I wish i could get to ispwich and check out parish registers etc but that is not going to happen anytime soon
