The newspaper article is also of family interest since one of Therese's daughters, Dorothy M Webber b 1898 was sent to an institution at a young age suffering with epilepsy. The story went that she jumped out of a window but maybe there was more to it and actually the illness was in the family. She died young.

I presume this is Amy in 1901. (Scotland'speople transcription have her ageas 28 (not 20- but I haven't viewed the original). 76 Gallowgate was the address on Amy's marriage certificate.

Mother's maiden names are gradually being added to death records on SP, but at the moment there's no record of a death in Glasgow 1902-11 with mms Fletcher.

I've used a few credits to look at the 1911 census.

By 1911 they'd had one child, who had died..

Living in one of many flats at 260 Stobcross Street, Anderston, Glasgow:

John O'Neill, 42, engineers labourer, shipbuilding, born Glasgow.
Amy O'Neill, 40, born England.
Violet Webber, Neice, 10, school, born England.
(also three boarders).

There were large numbers of O'neil births in Glasgow 1902-17, and unfortunately it's not possible (after 1854) to use mother's maiden name as a search term on Scotlands People website, so can't narrow it down.

Even her death cert won't help, as no child of hers would have been old enough to be the informant.

I said that Amy's daughters were born in Scotland but muddled as usual.. was another Amy.. I haven't looked into whether Amy Fletcher had children yet.

Thank you for your kindness. I shall order some certificates where it helps and start to look at Catherine. My niece shares the same name chosen without the family knowledge. All good :-)

Found Dead In Bed
Yesterday afternoon, Mr. H.S. Wasbrough held an inquest at the Rising Sun public-house, Lower Castle Street, touching the death of William Fletcher, silver plater, who lately resided at 15, Lower Castle Street, Bristol. Mary Ann Fletcher, wife of the deceased stated that she sat up with her mother who was ill on Tuesday night in an adjoining room to the deceased's bedroom, and when she went to call him in the morning to go to his work she found he was dead. In reply to the Coroner, witness said that about a fortnight ago the deceased had a fit at the Mission Hall, and on two previous occasions he had similar attacks. A young daughter of the deceased having stated that she had slept with her father on the night in question, and was not disturbed during the night, the Coroner said that according to the evidence the deceased had fits occasionally, and it was extremely probable that he had an attack in the night, and that the action of the heart suddenly stopped, The jury returned a verdict of accidental death.

Amy died in 1917 Cathcart (her parents on the death entry are listed the same as the marriage entry). Her sister, Therese Webber registered the death.

If Amy married in Scotland the marriage certificate will tell you her parents names. I have some credits, I'll take a look.

If I order the paper copy of Therese's birth certificate through GRO rather than the online, will that have the mother's maiden name also, please?

It is very likely that Amy Fletcher b 1868 Soho married in Scotland, her daughters were brought up in Glasgow.

That is definitely our Amy in Bristol. The family are in the Barton Regis area and she was very likely a machinist.
