I wonder if you can help please. I'm trying to help a friend who comes from a large family piece together the birth information of his siblings. |

That would be the way the births were registered if the father of the last 4 children was not the woman's husband at the time or if she was no longer married to her husband. |

Depending on what timescale we are talking about, I suspect that it all depends on what information the registrar was given. Perhaps the mother simply "implied" that she was married to the father of the children by giving his surname and her "former" name, or perhaps they did marry and when the split up she reverted to her former name? |
