I have found 2xAmy Spencers, b1888 on the register. One in Southall MB, Middlesex, and the other in Guildford MB, Surrey. How do I look in the relevant Electoral Rolls for them before I shell out to see the full entry in the register? |

I lost track of Amy in 1912. I can find neither a marriage nor a death for her. Amy Spencer was her full name, she didn't have a middle name. In 1912 she was the unmarried mother of my mother-in-law. I know just about everything about her prior to 1912, and then she disappears. |

I have posted about this before, but thought I would try again because of the 1939 register. Amy was born in Braughing, Hertfordshire, on 27th October 1888. She was still in Braughing on the 1891 and 1901 census'. She gave birth to Harry on 3rd July 1910, in the Bishop's Stortford workhouse. There is no father's name on the B/Cert. Sadly, he died in 1911 aged just 14 months. She then gave birth to Cicely Marshall Spencer on 12th March 1909. (I have just put these two births the wrong way round, haven't I?) in Grimsby. Again, no father named, but is there a clue in the middle name? Cecily (note the change of spelling) died on 6th August 1932. Amy then gave birth to Grace, on19th July 1912 in the Bradford W/House. On 22nd of November 1912 she was sent to the Sleaford, Lincs. W/House, after which she disappears. |

The James Arthur Spencer and Amy Spencer in Southall are possibly a married couple. The Guildford pair, given my Amy's cavalier attitude to morals, may have been living over the brush. |

Well, I paid my £6.95p. The Amy in Guildford is described as a widow, DOB 30th Jan 1888, so not the one I am looking for. Back to the drawing board. |
