Thank you everyone for your information,I am rather new to this, up until today I had no idea of how to put information on here.Big hugs for you all. It was just sheer luck about two years ago when researching my Mums family I was looking through many bits of paper and found My Great Grandparents wedding info and the witnesses on there was Liliy Sophia and George Henry Drury.Up until then I had no idea beyond my Great Grandparents names. So I do appreciate as much info that you all are able to help with. As far as James Sibblings, was there only 3 of them and if all the others married and had children. Also my Grandmother Alice Edney, her fathers name was Walter Francis.
:-)

Dates and locations are absolutely vital....................and you haven't yet given any

Everything we've posted has been speculative.

'Deceased' fathers are always a worry........

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 28 May 2015 17:18

Snap........with the census

If Rose returns, perhaps she'll have answers to our questions.

If the Drury couple were witnesses, how could the marriage be that of James's parents?

Lily Drury (nee Shaw) was his sister

I think I'm leaving this until we get some more facts...........and some definite DATES

Morning everyone, well its morning for me as I am here in Australia. The marriage I am referring to is of my Great Grandparents James and Alice, Alice was an Edney. The witnesses were Lily Sophia and Henry George Drury. James and Alice are the parents to my Grandfather Henry James Shaw. The marriage was 23 April 1905, Parish St. Luke The Evangelist West Kilburn. Alice Died 28th August 1948 age 75 in Adelaide South Australia, and James 14th July 1958 aged 86 also Adelaide, Both are buried at Dudley Park Cemetry South Australia. I also would appreciate photos if at all possible as my Dad lives here with me and is 89 this year and has a few health issues so I would love to share whatever information about our Shaw family. :-) Also hopefully someone may also be related be nice to be in touch. Regards Rosemary

Also if anyone would know if there is a Shaw Crest, so I can organise to do it for Dad,as I did with my Grandfathers war medals for my Dad. Thank you all so much

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 29 May 2015 08:41

Thank you for the clarification

To find a crest, if there is one, google.....always the best way to find info

To find connections on GR, look in search trees.

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 29 May 2015 08:47

I don't know where you got the info about James's mother's name. There is nothing to support the idea that she was Lily Sophia.

That was his sister's name

Have you seen the 1891 census info posted on page one?

You really need to get a copy of his birth cert.................and Lily's, for accurate details

To find info about marriages and children..........use freebmd. That's what we all do..........

I already gave you details of one of Lily's children............on 1911 census
