Looking at those service records and comparing with Hyacinth's history, I would say that Alexander embarked as she sailed in 1903 to relieve her sister ship HMS Highflyer as flagship of the East Indies Station. His character and ability are then reported annually ie to 31st December each year, last being Dec 1905, when I think that his character and ability are recorded as VG - ie Very Good. There is then an entry 1 Jan 06 - 3 Jan '06 by which is the notation DD. A very short time in which to be Dishonourably Discharged, although not impossible.

Hyacinth's records show that she was in reserve in Devonport in 1906 but not precisely when in 1906.
EDIT - but as Highflyer was back in the East Indies as flagship in November 1906, then possibly not until late 1906 was Hyacinth back in Devonport. A new Captain was appointed January 1907, so that might fit.

So as an outside chance -
Unfortunately in Service Parlence DD could well mean Discharged Dead. And no precise idea of where, so maybe no record available??

There is one Moore brother still unaccountable .Henry Stewart Moore d.o.b. c1860
he is shown last on the 1881 census age 21, occupation is hammerman, no sign of him anywhere after this date it seems .

It just shows you should never give up.

Nearly all accounted for now apart from Henry Stewart Moore. Alexander's older brother , but I am on a mission now to try and find him as well.

Update on Alexander.

greyghost was right about DD meaning discharged on death.

A friend of mine visited the archives at Kew and found the ships log books.
It states that on 4/1/1906 landed funeral party to intern the remains of Pte Alexander Moore RMLI .

Such a shame as he would only have been about 26 years old.
It was on the "Hyacinth " whilst in Calcutta.

There was nothing to say how he died .
I will have to try and find out if a death certificate would have been issued .

Such a shame he died so young.
I wonder how his mother Margaret would have found out about his death.

Very sad that he died so young. His poor mother probably didn't find out for weeks and was probably counting on his pay to help provide for the family. I wonder if his brother Henry enlisted too.

I have been looking for Henry again since finding Alexander but still nothing for him as yet , but I am keeping my fingers crossed he pops up out of the blue like his brother .

You are probably right about his mother relying on his wages as she did apply for poor relief a couple of times if you remember.

I wonder if Alexander had left a will ?
I have been looking at the National archives website but can't really make much sense of it , perhaps someone could help me out and point me in the right direction,
