this is definately him i found thomas chapman on one census living with another stocks classed as father and i thought it was a mistake, i see now he was born out of wedlock and stocks was his mothers maiden name... how that changes things!

Thank you. I imagine £220 was quite a sum in those days, i wonder why he left it to non family.
I am thinking that John Anderson Stocks marriage was actually sebra marias brother and not her father. i think i may have founf her father john stocks born 1776 married to sarah born 1781

cant find any more info on john anderson stocks or thomas chapmans siblings or mother . Can anyone help with this ?
