Think I preferred the error message.
Still only able to acess Genealogy chat, My Threads & Living Relatives.
No response whatever on the other threads.
Have logged in & out by every means available & now I feel dizzy.
Giving up.

If you are still getting the message about maintenance then while it is displayed press F5. If that doesn't work try CTRL F5 (together).

I emailed support last night, had a prompt response with a suggestion of how to solve this morning. That did not work so emailed back, another prompt response with another suggestion which worked

How it worked for me:

signed out of GR (something I never do!) & closed firefox browser

used ccleaner to clear the cache (just clearing cookies did not work).

reopened and signed in to Gr - now working as normal

if it helps this is a reply i had from genes when i e-mailed them

I am sorry to hear of your continued problems logging in to and accessing the site.

If you are trying to go to www.genesreunited.co.uk or any of our other sites (.com, .com.au, .co.nz, .co.za), and see a page which starts "Sorry, the site is down for maintenance...", then can I suggest you hit CTRL+F5 to force a full page refresh. If you are still seeing the "Sorry" page it has now been altered to show the current date and time. If you cannot see this then your browser has a cached the page, and you should at this point clear your cache. Here are some websites to help you clear your cache:

http://www.wikihow.com/Clear-Your-Browser's-Cache

http://help.typepad.com/clear-browser-cookies-cache.html

We have also created a page where you can re-set your cookies. This will remove any 'bad' cookies that your PC had stored. When you re-set your cookies you will have to log in again but this should stop any further problems. Please click on this link:

No I cannot get onto 'Search Records' and I get that 'maintenance' message and 'will be available shortly' - I too thought it was just me. But I do use Google Chrome, Ann

Hey yes control and F5 worked at the point where you click on the awkward file which seems to vary from person to person, Ann
