sorry for the delay in answering,
ok ,i have all eliza's children my grand father was one of her son's,
i was going to see about the electoral roll but will not have time till the end of the week,
i do not have eliza duffield's death cert ,( are you talking about eliza's mum ).
the name goodrum comes up a lot in norfolk, there is no family connection to mitford,
i was looking to see if i could find anything out about the marriage to alfred a palmer in 1923,
eliza would have had a bit of money with john rudrum leaving everything to eliza.

JenE Report 10 Jun 2012 21:35

There is an Eliza Goodrum who died aged 73 in the March quarter of 1929, registered in Mitford. See Vol 4b, Page 444 in free BMD
I know it's a long shot, but the age would be about right, the name sounds similar and I have not been able to find this lady in any census.

What about looking at electoral rolls for 46 Albion Rd to see when she was last there?

hi jenE i thought that but i have gone through the marriages under rudrum & her maiden name duffield with no luck,
i have tried all way's to find her death without success,
the only thing i haven't looked at is if she went abroad, but she was about 66yrs old when her husband died,
did older ladies go abroad in the 1920s, still i will continue to search, she must be registered somewhere,

JenE

JenE Report 9 Jun 2012 15:30

Is there a possibility that Eliza may have remarried using her maiden name and not her married name? Remarriage seemed to be quite common among some of my ancestors even in their later years.

hi rose,
thank you for the census, this is my family, the only true fact on the tree from ancestry is the name and place of birth,
that is why you should check out any detail's people find for you or your tree will not make any sense,
all the detail's on the census are correct, her elderly mother is living with them ,that is how i know the eliza who died in mitford 1937 is not my eliza,as this eliza died the same quarter as her husband george,

thank's again,
sue

This is on a tree on Ancestry:

Eliza Elizabeth Duffield
27 Dec 1857 - 17 Feb 1896
Born: Chatham, Kent, England
Died: Lewisham, London, England

It amazes me how inaccurate these trees are. Where did these dates come from?

MarieCeleste Report 8 Jun 2012 19:24

If it's of any interest, Eliza Rudrum was a key witness in a murder trial in 1900/01.

If you want a copy of the newspaper article let me know.

why are you so sure that the death in 1937 is not her? The age on the death certificate is only as good as the person giving the information knows.
