now you made me go and look at my Home Page!

There are more than 64 discussions on my maiden name

where do you think all these discussions can be found???

I found the Scottish ones, but didn't bother looking at the Private "family". The Scottish ones were listed randomly, or so it seemed. But I did find one that I have a connection to, now waiting for a response/reply..... if the person is still a member.

Where would they be on the boards?...... entering a word in the search box takes forever.

Porkie_Pie Report 20 Apr 2012 10:21

Well i spotted this and when i looked

They are not discussions but are in fact old threads where a place name or a surname where mentioned on the thread,

and in no way where any of these a discussion about either

It's no differant to what you would get if you search threads for any given word

another GR con

It was the surname "Private" that made me laugh :-D

I haven't heard from the person I'm connected to........ I'm wondering why.

Scozzie...
My surname is BROWN,,,,,,there is no way I am even going to click on the link to over 1000 discussions....LOL

When I joined here I got an email telling me that genes had X amounts of connections to ME!!!
My name,,my date of birth/place of birth etc,,,,,the whole show....
Clicked the link and nothing was even in the same country let alone name or birth year....

Well I didn't know that was there!

Actually I quite like it. Much quicker than searching threads for that surname.
Many of them are my posts with still unresolved issues.
Perhaps I should investigate them again.

Nothing about Kentish Maids ;-)

I removed my tree during the site's instability; if "the tree" function works again properly one day, then I may think about inputting some of my direct ancestors' names again.

AAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHH

That explains it!

I have spent much longer than usual sending out my messages this afternoon.

Many of them were to new people who had replied to old posts.

I wondered why folk had started to dig up old posts again.

Now I know..........

I agree with PP........a con and a waste of time in most case.

I repeat

ARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH

jax Report 21 Apr 2012 02:21

There are none for my surname :-(

Maybe it could be that I do not have my name in my tree just some random letters instead ?

There are over a 1000 discussions about where I was born though ummm

Berniethatwas

Berniethatwas Report 21 Apr 2012 04:33

There are also over 1000 for the surname "Rellie"! I checked one and it didn't have that name in it at all - just the more posher "Relative", who may or may not be connected.

lol at the "Rellie"

May I should put some of my (not talked to) rellies on my tree.... Bogan, Dopehead, Dropout, Vegout etc etc

Hi Scozzie,

Did you see my advice on the Ann Kerr thread?

You probably won't receive a reply from Alex because the thread is over 3 years old and Alex may not be looking for replies if, indeed, still a member. It was a prime example of my earlier post above.

There aren't 'discussions' taking place anywhere much......this 'new' facility simply takes you to old threads which happens to contain the name you are looking for.

Very misleading, especially to new members and reminds me of the Surname board we used to have before the last bout of changes on here :-(
