Interesting, he does claim to be born in Fulham/Putney and give his middle name as Matthew but the year is good and so is the father's trade ! Thanks.

I did wonder about that middle name, but thought I'd post it anyway.

Maybe he didn't start out with the middle name...?
Someone on my tree was named Daniel and was baptised and married twice with that name.
Only at his 3rd marriage did he invent a middle name for himself.

I just thought I'd mention the death registration in case it was not known :)

I saw that Charles F Sigg in 1871 and it is definitely a letter F on the census image but I'd be happy to send the image to you if you would like to see it. I thought it was a possibility before I saw the F because the father Charles is a cabinet maker and his father Charles on the marriage parish register (from ancestry) is a carpenter. And I saw the place of birth being out of the area, yet his brother was born in approximately the right area.
