I think it's worth going back to the RAF commands forum and posting your query there. I've used this site for research purposes (admittedly not since last January) and had some very helpful replies. Once you have registered, you can start a new thread and wait to see if anyone comes back.

heatherg,
There are other people searching for information on the crash which killed Dennis Studd who was a flying instructor. If you log onto this website:

http://sas.raf38group.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=523

you will be able to make contact with these people.

KINGSMILL

KINGSMILL Report 27 Nov 2011 04:32

He could have been alone like Amy Johnson who died ferrying an aircraft in 1941.

( Ferry flying refers to delivery flights for the purpose of returning an aircraft to base, moving an aircraft from one base of operations to another or moving an aircraft to or from a maintenance facility for repairs, overhaul or other work.)

I don't think anyone else died in the crash. I cross-referenced the other young men who died in that district and quarter with the CWGC site and couldn't find any matches for the same date.

Have you tried looking in the local newpapers.
If you don't live near you could contact the local library and ask if they can help.

Thankyou everyone
His birth isn't recorded because he was born in Shanghai. The story is that my grandparents lost everything in a "rebellion" then came to live in Hull where my mother was born.

Neice does come into the list of next of kin if everybody else is deceased, which is the case.

I went to see the grave last year. My grand parents and great grandparents are buried there.

A niece is not normally next of kin................unless you can prove otherwise to the satisfaction of the authorities.

The Service record will cost you £30.00.

Good luck..........

Have you seen the cemetery details from the CWGC site:

http://www.cwgc.org/search/cemetery_details.aspx?cemetery=2067528&mode=1

There's also a photo of the cemetery if you click on the link.

I know this is not what you are looking for but thought it might be of interest.

Yes I know Flick but as he was my uncle I can send for it.

I'm also contacting the Air Historical Branch and the RAF museum.
