I'm having the same sort of problems.It is so frustating when you cant get answers.
I'm off to kew soon to see if I can get anywhere with the 'burnt records'.

Ann - military records are free currently on ancestry (during Remembrance time) :)

Hi Martyn....have a look at this record on Ancestry. It states that next of kin is his mother is Chalotte Edwards living near Wrexham (difficult to read the exact address).

Edit address.....Bryn Madog Bulchgwyn Wrexham.??
