I have made progress on most of my tree, but my Mum's long lost cousin Lily is eluding us.

Her fathers name was Thomas Morris, born 1910.

We don't know the name of her mother....

This made my search difficult, but I looked for all marriages for Morris in Manchester North and South districts between 1925 and 1935, also Conway in Wales for this period, as it seems Tom went to work there and possibly even married there.

I noted all maiden names for women who married Thomas Morriss's for the period 1925 - 1935 , then I did a search on all births for a Lilian Morris, for the same period, hoping that one of the women's maiden names would match, and we would have the right Lily and also her mother.

But she hasn't turned up in the Free BMD and lancashire BMD searches I've done so far, or in here....

this is the one big missing piece in the jigsaw puzzle , and we'd love to find her. Can anyone help?

Thanks again..

ps-

why did I search 1925 - 1935?

Well my Mum thinks he got married somewhere in this period, and also says that Lily was " a good few years" older than her, and my Mum was born in 1940.

probably silly question Did Thomas have a middle initial?

There isn't a marriage in Conway that matches this birth

Births Mar 1930 (>99%)

MORRIS Lily E Davies Conway 11b 599

thanks Rose

No, he had no middle initial.

I saw this one above too, for Lily E, but no marriage for it.

Though it's possible they were married in Manchester ( and that Lily was born there too)....though I didn't find a marriage for a Morris and Davies there either.

Not looking good. :-(

Thanks all,

Hi Susan , I will ask my Mum but I think not.

This Conway marriage to Bradshaw could be possible,

though Lily then being born in Wigan would be a bit odd, as all our

family concentrated around Manchester central, North and South....

I will ask my Mum....

Rambling Report 16 May 2011 12:23

Joe, Possibly Margaret's family was in Wigan and she went to mum's for birth...would not be unusual for that to happen, and there are several possible margaret A Bradshaws born in Wigan that could be her, but I can't see any Conway area.

Joe

Joe Report 16 May 2011 14:06

Rose, that's intersting and possible as you say.

Awaiting the word of mater...

I guess a marriage cert. would prove it...

Thanks for the help.

My Mum said that they had another child apart from Lily, a son Anthony who died sometime between 1930 and 1950.

Several names and leads are popping up, but I think I may be looking in the wrong places -

Can someone tell me please, which district/ county would Llandudno have come under between 1925 and 1940?

Is Conway the right place to look ?

Susan

Susan Report 17 May 2011 09:05
