How old does it say she was on the marriage certificate?

It is quite common to find the year or birth wrong on a death certificate ........ the information is only that "as known by the informant".

Sometimes the deceased has deliberately told everyone the wrong birth year ................ or even birth date. My own grandfather did that!

People usually remember that "grandma" was born on Jan 15, but may not remember the actual year.

If, as you say, she was born in 1902 .......... that means she was only 17 when she married, 19 if the year was 1900.

What information do you have on the brother Harry? At the moment all the censuses have is Annie, Richard and Emma. Also you say she had a sister Lizzie born in 1893 - where does this information come from?

What is the name of the Swift witness on her marriage cert?

Is it possible that Edward was actually widowed by 1891 and the note of him being married but Elizabeth being nowhere in sight might mean that she had died or perhaps left him?

Catherine

Catherine Report 13 Apr 2011 15:43

And I think that Elizabeth left Edward at sometime between 1889-1891 although the children name his as their father
