On looking at the GRO websites both for Eire and for NI it would appear that you could order from either, where the event is before 1921.

Why don't you give one of them a ring, just to be sure?

Ah!!! InspectorGreenPen,
I never knew about the irish history ...it's quite interesting in what you said about NI ....

Ann of Green Gables.
So I order the cert from NI and not Eire ? ..I've had so many informations from these helpful people on here and I'm still confused as I've looked up on the informations .

InspectorGreenPen

Yes but only after 1921. Before that Northern Ireland didn't exist, hence the reference to the date in this case, i.e. 1869

InspectorGreenPen

InspectorGreenPen Report 28 Feb 2011 12:19

Sorry, should have checked the date more carefully, you order from Eire not N.I.

Potty Report 28 Feb 2011 11:51

The record Erin has posted is Mary's baptism not her birth registration. The familysearch site has Irish BMD indexes. This looks like Mary's birth registration:

Name: Mary Cranney
Registration District: Newry
Event Type: BIRTHS
Registration Quarter and Year: 1869
Estimated Birth Year:
Age (at Death):
Mother's Maiden Name:
Film Number: 101046
Volume Number: 11
Page Number: 844

As her birth was before 1921 you can a copy of the registration from the Irish GRO:

www.groireland.ie/

The site gives details of how to order and pay,

I haven't ordered from NI, only for England and Eire, so I don't know.

Look at the section on ordering over the internet and it will tell you what you need to supply.

Do I just need the reference number ? InspectorGreenPen.
