Hello agin everyone,

Its been a while since I last posted. However, I have managed to track down my fathers birth mothers brother Robert Tiernan b1934, Glasgow. Have passed on sddresses for Robert and his daughter Alexandra Sneddon to Barnardos and they are about to contact them regarding my father. Then, we will find out the whereabouts of Annie MacIntosh Henry nee Tiernan. Then Barnardos will be able to investigate the brothers of Stephen Henry. We now know that my fathers birth father was actually a Robert Campbell, from newcastle who was 22 years of age in 1947. Very limited information but im sure we will find out more. Hopefully Richard E Henrys family will be able to fill in the missing pieces. Will keep everyone who has helped us informed.

Thanks
Nicky

Hell Potty
Thank you for replying. We are waiting to view my fathers court process papers regarding his adoption. Then Barnados will aproach Annie MacIntosh Henry nee Tiernan, as a death certificate in Scotland can not be found. I found Annies brother (Robert Tiernan b1934) We obtained his marriage certificate, his daughters birth, marriage certificate, and her two childrens birthcertificates and I have found out that she is living in Cumbernauld. Barnados will approach her once they find out more about the adoption. My fathers uncle Robert is still alive. Hope to follow up his fathers side further. Will keep everyone posted.

Hello everyone

Cant understand what ive been doing when replying and keeping everyone who has helped us so far, informed of our latest progress. Have posted a few replies and they do not seem to have gone through! My father and I are still awaiting news from Barnados, informing us about his birth mother and any living relatives, etc. We have been using all information given to us regarding my fathers uncles, etc from England. Which is taking quite a while. Will hopefully have good news soon!

Many Thanks

Hello Everyone,

So many people to thank for their kindness and efforts to help my father find his birth mother and the extended family he has never met. He thought he was an only child, infact he is one of five children. Sadly one passed away, James Henry, not long after his birth. Barnardos have been given all the information which everyone has kindly passed to me. I am looking into my fathers birth fathers family (Stephen Henry) and will keep everyone posted on our findings. English law makes it harder for us to view particular documents as we have a different outlook here in Scotland, when viewing particular documents, eg marriage, birth, death certificates. Someone has contacted myself on this site informing us that her nephews are my dads cousins sons. We have traced Annie Macintosh Henry nee Tiernans niece and Annies brother is still alive we believe. We will wait for Barnardos to contact the family now as they know how to approach this matter. My father David is delighted but a little afraid of rejection. Understandable. I am finding all of this emotional as at long last I may be able to tell my son about my gran, who we may look like. Not expecting to hear a fairytale story but some facts which are missing from my fathers life. Barnados are trying to contact his sisters who were also given away at birth, informing them of my fathers existance. Words cannot express our gratitude to everyone who has been posting replies. Will keep updating our progress.

Nicola Craig nee MacSween

Hi Nicky,
Oh wow! What an exciting week, and probably quite emotional too. How is your father coping with all of this news arriving at once?
Hope it all works out really well for you. Good luck.

Hello Dee,Rose and Janice.

A lot of info regarding my fathers birth family has been discovered since we last posted. Local registrars located a brother Rober Tiernan b1934 for my fathers mother Annie. From that we found his marriage certificate, daughters birth certificate and her marriage certificate, two sons birthcertificates. Alexandra Ann Tiernan married Richard R Sneddon in 1885 and their two sons were born 1887, 1989 in Cumbernauld near Glasgow. Think we have their address from 192.com and have passed onto barnados case worker who will inform them of my father. His uncle Robert is still alive and Annie his birth mother appears to be alive as registrars could not allocate a death certificate. Fingers crossed Barnados contact Annie and Roberts family soon! Also, we contacted Swindon Library and they gave us a telephone number for English and Welsh Records in Meryside as in Scotland we can only view records which are recorded in Scotland.

Hello Everyone

Have contacted Swindon Library and am awaiting a reply. Hopefully we will hear back from them soon. Also, we are contacting our local registrars office tomorrow asking them to view Richard Edward Henrys birth, marriage and death certificate, as his mother, fathers names should be listed which will confirm all. Looking in to his wifes details also, if she is still alive then maybe she knows more.

Will let you know how we progress. Would nt have been possible if it wasnt for everyones generosity.

Thank you
Nicky/David

Hi Nicky,

From Rose's info regarding Elizabeth V Henry, a possible marriage;

England & Wales, Marriage Index: 1916-2005
about Elizabeth V Ledgard
Name: Elizabeth V Ledgard
Spouse Surname: Henry
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1954
Registration district: Wood Green
Registration county (inferred): Middlesex
Volume Number: 5f
Page Number: 1625
Find Spouse: Robert Henry <<<<<<<<<<<<<< !!!

Now Janice located a death for Robert in Wiltshire who was born in 1913;

England & Wales, Death Index: 1916-2005
about Robert Henry
Name: Robert Henry
Birth Date: 20 May 1913
Death Registration Month/Year: May 1995
Age at death (estimated): 82
Registration district: Swindon
Inferred County: Wiltshire
Register number: B45B
District and Subdistrict: 7961B
Entry Number: 62

There are 2 other births for Robert in 1913 around the correct time, however I also found 2 deaths for them in 1973 and 1979 in the areas they were born.............. so this Robert above was not born in England or Wales.

Unfortunately I couldn't see any children for this marriage. I think Elizabeth was born in 1926 in Yorkshire and was an only child. I can't see a death for her as Ancestry deaths only go up to 2005.

Hello Rose,

Thank you for replying. Just had a look at Stephens death certificate which R Henry signed. My husband thinks it says 56 Colebrook Road, Lower Stratton Swindon Wiltshire. My eye sight is getting worse the older I get!
Hope this helps

Are you sure of the spelling of the street? Can't find anything like Cutchbrook anywhere.
