I have been told that an uncle, who married one of my great aunts, drowned when the Titanic sank. I have names and birth years for the aunts but that's it. Is there a way to find out who they married?

If anyone could help, their names were Emily (1862) Ada (1865) and Florence Jennet NORTH (1874) On the other side of the family was Fanny DIXON (1875)

What area are we looking at ??
Have you tried freebmd?

Rosemary

Rosemary Report 20 Feb 2011 14:07

Sorry, I don't know how BMD records would help me? I want to know the husbands they married.

RutlandBelle Report 20 Feb 2011 14:13

On FreeBMD you search for a marriage of Florence J North or any of the others you mention.

Search from about their 18th birthday untill the Titanic went down, only you know which areas of the country they were living in.

Then you would have to cross reference the names with those on the Titanic, I'm sure there will be a list somewhere

There are lots of possible NORTH marriages ... if you know the area they lived in, then you can eliminate most.... type in the name and it gives you a couple of choices...... I then go to census following marriage to confirm,,,,
perhaps you would like to post on here & we will try to help..

Portsmouth, South Hayling, Hampshire is the birth place of the North sisters. Fanny Dixon was from Lincolnshire.

I have a list of people who died in the Titanic disaster should I find names to check.
