O well - will see what happens next year - at least I am still only paying half of what current members are charged

thanks for the info

I set it as continuous in 2008 so that I did not forget to pay!! Terrible memory these days

Joy Report 22 Jun 2011 23:29

The 20% discount was at the same time that find my past was offering 20% discount for renewal.

Ann

they offered it to me in the email they sent to tell me that my membership was due

I keep my membership at Single, and have done since I joined. I regularyl check to make sure it hasn't been automatically reverted to Continuous.

how do you get a loyalty bonus Sylvia?

I joined in April 2004 too and am still being charged £9.25 (continuous membership) - no option of loyalty bonus

supercrutch Report 22 Jun 2011 20:14

I originally paid £9.95 in 2005 for the year and was on continuous membership. Owing to severe illness in my family I left last year and when I rejoined last week they charged me £19.95.

NB do not lapse for too long.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 22 Jun 2011 20:03

I was also charged £7.50 for the eyar .... which was £9.95 with a loyalty bonus deduction.

Mind you ...... I had to go round the hills to get that, as they initially charged me in US $ because I don't live in the UK

Canada doesn't use US $, we have our own currency .......... so I complained to GR about having to pay more in currency exchange charges.!

Well if you are on continuous membership and a basic member it shouldnt be £19.95. Would certainly query that

The advert I saw was on ITV 4 last night, lots of lovely ancestors knocking on the door and calling in for a chat. If only...........!

Persephone Report 10 Feb 2011 20:48

Mine is renewal in April at continuous 12 months so either I get the 20% off or it is goodbye as I do far more re my tree off this site.

I would love all my ancient relatives to turn up, we could have a family get together, there would be so much to talk about.

Don't see those adverts here, wonder if it is on youtube?

Persie
Edit: yes it is on youtube so will have a look.

Cornish Susie

Cornish Susie Report 10 Feb 2011 19:42

I've just seen an advert on TV for Genes Reunited showing lots of ancient relatives turning up, and it said you could find them all ' for free' . No mention of it being a trial offer or anything, so now what are they up to?

Joy

Joy Report 10 Feb 2011 14:28

You're welcome, Hilary :-)

I shall decide in April whether or not to renew; it seems a lot of money to pay again later if I do not renew.

Hilary

Hilary Report 10 Feb 2011 13:01

Thanks Joy, I paid £9.95 last year, will take note when my renewal comes up, which won't be long now.

Joy Report 9 Feb 2011 22:07

Hilary, from what was posted in reply to me in face book, whatever I have paid previously I shall pay this time minus 20% which is the same loyalty discount in find my past for renewal. I expect there is the 20% discount as both sites are under the same ownership.
Sorry, not very good grammar :-)

Hilary

Hilary Report 9 Feb 2011 19:28

What has happened to the £7. something price for loyalty they were saying. Has that now been changed. I have been a member since 2004 & up for renewal 15th March. So am I to believe if I continue I should get it for £7.96. Will have to watch when renewal comes up.

They did indeed tell me that, Christine :-)

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 9 Feb 2011 18:56

I came back to post that I've just realised that I might have mis-read it as applying to everyone.

But that it was indeed applying only to SatNav ................. the 4 week warning!
