Hi,

I've just started in this site and managed to find my great great grandparents and great grandparents in the first hour of using it. I got a census form which I am almost certain is them. However I can't read the last name. I'm thinking Pavis or Pavris but when I search for here on the records nothing comes up.

I've put the image here: http://i56.tinypic.com/34rwswy.jpg

Thanks for your help

Oh dear, all I can see is one name, top left corner I think!! Looks like Emily Jarvis to me.

Snap!
Could you please give some details so we can find the record and have a look at the image?

Can you give us the details of the census so we can see the whole page?

I'd agree with Jan.

But if you wanted to give the full details of the census image, we can look it up on other sites and compare the writing on the page.

Oh my, Jan, we're on the same wavelength today!

A bit late marrying but a good chance this is the henry and Constance on that record:

Marriages Dec 1905 (>99%)
CASTLETON Henry William Lambeth 1d 645
GRIMES John William Lambeth 1d 645
JARVIS Constance Francis S Lambeth 1d 645
SLATER Mary Lambeth 1d 645
SMALL-JARVIS Constance F Lambeth 1d 645

+++DetEcTive+++ Report 31 Dec 2010 11:38

Well - it won't load for me...which could be slow internet speed or because I don't have a sub for GR records!

However, it does say it is a 1911 image. Some of us have subs for that on FMP.

If you could say how old Emily was, and the address, we can look it up

brummiejan

brummiejan Report 31 Dec 2010 11:42

Actually you are looking at 1911 not 1901!!

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 31 Dec 2010 11:42

She's the mother-in-law of Henry Castleton who's married to Constance. here's the marriage:

The address is almost impossible to read but she was 50 in 1911 making her birth in 1851.

The marrying records look good. That is probably them. I'm new to this sort of thing is that a list of people that got married in that year with them names?

Thanks everyone that just about clears everything up.

Just got to find Emily Jarvis' husband. And sorry I meant 1911.

brummiejan

brummiejan Report 31 Dec 2010 11:47

The list of name (I assume you are referring to my post) is all the people who were registered on the same entry. After 1911 the spouse surname is recorded, before that you have to do a bit of detective work!
The transcription above is from 1911 site itself, I think the street name is probably correct.
For births, marriages and deaths 1837-1940ish you need to use this site, it's free:
