Mary, thank you for your reply.

I've just been browsing through and on a thread they say we can't do both, like someone said, I thought the Help Clinic was for brick walls?
If we cant get our answers on the board, it's obviously a brick wall but we cant ask again on the Clinic. I'm even more confused lol.

To be honest it's just the same people looking! But OK I think as long as you guide us to the existing thread.

Sandra

as I understand it, the Help Clinic is supposed to be there to help you break down brick walls.

To me, that means that you have already searched records, on here and elsewhere, and not found anything AND that you have probably asked for help on these boards before, without anything being found

Therefore, to me, there can be no objection (or should not be) to you posting a request on the Help Clinic ..... although it would probably be a good idea to say what has or has not been found, which censuses or other records have been found, etc ....... possibly even giving the url of any thread that you might have started.

But I do note that I was told when asked to be one of the advisors that sites other than GR, fmp and Scotlands People could not be used, and there could be no c&p'ing of information from those other sites. It would be permissable to give advice on what to enter into google to find information

I have to assume that this restriction was not given to the advisors now working as I see they do c&p censuses and other information from sites other than brightsolid ones.

Actually, having re-checked the guidelines, it does specify that we can't use sites other than GR, FMP and Scotlands People. Oops!
