What is your definition of 'old'?

What years do you have in mind?

What info do you expect to find, bearing in mind the limitations of the electoral franchise prior to the introduction of universal suffrage.

Electoral rolls are only searchable by address so you would need that and they are kept at the library nearest to the address and at County Records Offices.

As Flick says, not everyone had the vote in the early 1900's so it depends on what years you were thinking of. There was no register taken during war years either.

trying to track a thomas phenton have him married to charlotte yewman 1917 and a army record for a medal but have him also as the father of alice phenton mothers maiden name archer in around 1923 no record of his birth or marraige to archer or his death

i have the birth cert for alice with father thomas phenton mother caroline phenton formley caroline archer but have found thomas married to charllote a few years before so we are a bit confused

But is it the SAME Thomas Phenton?

The one who married Charlotte had a second name...................

his second name was robert

Can you explain why you think that Thomas RICHARD Phenton who married in 1917 is Thomas ROBERT Phenton father of Alice.

The mother's MAIDEN name is ALWAYS recorded for her chlidren......no matter how many times she has married.
