Hi Anne

I have done a bit more checking, and I am doubting that my Henry is the same as yours. I met him via another member, who at the time didn't know his parentage. We guessed his age as being about 1840. She has now done further research and has him born 1834., married to an Isabella. His parents are John 1790 and Margaret 1784. I am pretty confident that this will have been researched well.

I wonder how common a name Baxendale was in Leyland? No doubt the families are all connected somehow.

Having done my bit of extra research, I now realise there is a lot more out there that could help me and I need to look at it.

You are welcome Anne, but I have nothing on him. I have Esther Baxendale born 1864 who married Thomas Weaver in Leyland in 1889. I have sort of guessed that Henry is her father, from census records. I could be totally wrong, but as she isn't my direct ancestor I haven't bought her marriage cert to prove it.

Ooh, just a minute. Thomas Weaver married twice. First to Ellen Baxendale b 1849, died 1888, then to Esther Baxendale b 1864. I researched this with a direct descendant of Thomas and Ellen. A long time ago. We do not believe that Ellen and Esther were sisters, but my family member who is a direct descendant might have more information. Hang about while I have a look at her tree.

I am having trouble finding the parents of Elizabeth and where the family came from, have you any suggestions
where i should look next?

Anne..... IF the james I found in 1851 as a widower is the right one it would suggest that the 1850 date could be correct as there is a child as young as 4years old. this would suggest that death would be between 1847 & 1850/1
Not forgetting That Betty is a nickname for Elizabeth as in the 1841 census by Shirley.

I am also a member of Ancestry and one of their members said that she had her has having died in 1850, so i don`t know which is the right date.

Maybe just after the census
dont forget they rounded the ages off to the nearest 5 years n the 1841 census for adults.
