I would like to add to what rose said about being careful when contacting your half siblings.

As I explained a couple of weeks ago, my circumstances almost exactly mirror yours. I contact my half sibling though friends reunited when I came accross that person accidently. On the initial contact I only asked have you siblings and named who they were, as I knew they knew nothing about me, I had email back saying yes they did and I then was extremely careful how explained that I was their sister......I am now in contact but it hasn't worked out how I hoped, its been an extremely emotional ride for all of us especially w hen our sister died last year very suddenly, I was devasted. But at the same time, I felt privaleged to have known her for even a short time, as I had only knew her for a year.

What I am trying to say is be prepared, go into open minded and don't regret anything no matter how it turns out. I can't explain too much on these boards about my own experience but would be glad to do so in email if you think it would help in the way you handle contacting your family and siblings.

Good luck Nicola
