I don't think he was a 'soldier'. I've checked on the Canadian sites for army records and nothing came up that 'felt' right and I've checked on the british army records and again nothing 'felt' right. Sometimes you just get a feeling that you are either on the right or wrong road. Although I understand that a lot of WW1 records were lost during the WW2.

All I realy know is what my mother can remember about her father-in-law because unfortunately my father is no longer here to ask questions about his father. I know he loved to help his father with 'the horses'.

Who does George A list as his father on his m.cert to your gran?
I've been assuming it was Albert Charles White

His faher's name was also George Alfred White (General Foreman - Deceased)

George Alfred White (b Canada? c? - George Alfred white (b Canada c 1878) married 1917 (Camberwell - Caroline O'Rourke nee Dunbar) Children Caroline June White b 1918 George Alfred White b 1919 (Johns Mews, Holborn) May White c1923

Thankyou for your post. This was one of the very first familys that I found on the census' and I really hoped it was the right one. But through another post I discovered that George White Snr's middle name began with M and my grandfathers father's name was George Alfred White.
