I KNOW this question of saving images from ancestry to your own computer has probably been answered many many times in the past ...... but I can't find any threads

I have finally found my grandfather's WW1 records, and wanted to save them to my computer.

BUT I'm having problems. Nothing that I do seems to work

I have now saved them to my Shoebox on ancestry ................ but how on earth do I get them over to my hard drive?

Preferably as a Microsoft Office file

I am almost completely computer illiterate, so I need answers in words of one syllable please!!!

Many thanks

When you have the image on your screen; right click and you will get a list of options. Choose 'save picture as' and you should get a box giving options such as save in documents and you can give it any file name that you like.

Kay

I'll try that ....... 'cos I'm having no success the other way!!

All right click does is bring up Properties ....... which tells me the details of the image!

Kay????

Kay???? Report 5 Nov 2009 23:20

Sylvia,~

when you get the named record show,,click on the actual image to the right .......,,then when it opens the first page of the actual image of record..look to the right,,of options to you,,,as you would to view an actual census imagethen when it opens the first image..along the top will be options............

print, save, share,,,click save,,then option to..my computer,,then decide where you want to save it from drop down menu,,click my documnets, name file and ,click save.......then you will need to go into your docs to find it,,,maybe when you get there it will be within --shared documents ..

Kay????

Kay???? Report 5 Nov 2009 23:24

or another way,,,

when you get image up.....look to the top left on your screen,,click file, then click save as,

,,,,then name & save to documents,,,this is probally the easiest and simplest way...:}}}}}

rolls eyes!!

Have just been sorting the information from the records to send to daughter.

He was in hospital in Baghdad for about a month ....... never knew he was wounded, and it the record doesn't say why

But then he was in field hospital for about a week with Influenza in October 1918

The record says he Embarked on SS Elephanta in Bombay on 27 July 1917 and Disembarked in Basrah in 1 August 1917 .......................... but it doesn't say when he went to Bombay!

Kay

no matter what I do, the only way the images seem to save is as a jpeg

I have 11 separate jpegs saved in my genealogy file .... and I'd love to get them into some form of document form, and have them all in one file!
