worth buying that Prestwich marriage certificate?

1851 census would be useful

Would prove occupation where he was living and father's name - there was actually another Lawrence b Bolton but think he is probably a red herring

v small world - I've lived in this area since 1970

Jacqueline Report 27 Oct 2009 16:19

What a coincidence its a small world !

i have laurence and elisa (eliza ) boarding in 1861 it must have been after they got married he is a roller corner then she is down as birth in 1839
Cant figure out why they married in Prestwich and not Oldham but havnt been able to find a marriage for them in Oldham ?
it must be them ?

could this be Lawrenc'e baptism (Helen = Ellen = Elin etc)

Baptism: 3 Aug 1834 St Peter, Oldham, Lancashire, England
Laurance Butterworth - Son of John Butterworth & Helen
Abode: North Moor
Occupation: Shopkeeper
Baptised by: Wm. Winter
Register: Baptisms 1829 - 1834, Page 300, Entry 2394
Source: LDS Film 1656068

Why on earth id he marry in Prestwich if Eliza was from Oldham as well???

Do you have any certificates? or Lawrence on any other census

I think between us there will be a few delays today. I have my grandchildren here visiting as well but they have just gone out for a while with parents so peace reigns at the moment.

I think they may have affected my brain too! Who was William visiting at the time and do you have rough dates for gt gt & gt grandparents please. Sorry to keep asking questions but having difficulty finding the right ones.

Jacqueline

Jacqueline Report 27 Oct 2009 12:22

Hi Jackey

so the William is Ashworth St that you mentioned in your post is NOT your William as John & Ellen were in Royton St. Just trying to get it straight in my head.

What was the name of your gt grandparents & your 2xgt grandparents please so that I can perhaps follow it through using baptisms. At the moment I cannot find any of the baptisms and wondered if an earlier generation would give a clue. There is quite a bit online and at the Lancs record office for the area.
