I am looking at the 1841 census image for Thomas Pleastow on Ancestry and I cannot make out his occupation. Can anyone with a better pair of eyes than me read it please. It is the 7th name down on the right hand page.

Thanks

David

It look's like "Cooper".

Thanks Cassidy

I think his son's Marriage cert says he was a wine cellarman, I will have ti find it and have another look.

Son Henry was a awine porter in 1851

Sound' s like a good link..from "Cooper" [barrell maker] to Wine cellarman]. Possibly too old to continue with his craft which was difficult and strenuous.

what's his dob and where was he born?

David

David Report 5 Oct 2009 00:22

DOB was about 1892. Don,t know where he was born. 1841 says he was born outside county. The name is actually Plested. There was a Thomas Plested born about the right time in Buckinghamshire.

Wife, Sarah, was born in Rotherhithe. She must have remarried as in 1851 she is Sarah Wiltshire, widow.

c 1792 was his birth year according to 1841 census.

I have found the marriage cert for Henry Plested. Says father was Thomas Plested, Wine Cooper so you read that well, Thanks.

Son, Henry was a Wine Porter.

Can you read the daughter's name. Transcription says Dsanna? I can't read it at all from the image on my PC.

Hi all

I have found a Dianah Plested on Ancestry Birts 1813-1906 but it needs premium membership and I only have basic. Is there anyone who can look that up please? This would be Dsanna Pleastow on the 1841, as the parents are the same.

David

David Report 5 Oct 2009 08:54

Thanks for that, I am sure you are correct.

I wonder what happened to Dianah

Can't find anything about her after 1841?

Thanks to you all for your help.

Thanks all.

Thanks Ann. I have come accross those last two in the past, in fact I bought the certificate for Thomas and Sarah, thinking there was a connection. it reads:

27 December 1841 Thomas Plested and Jane Sarah Green. bachelor and spinster, St Mary's Church St Marylebone. Both of full age and no address or father's names on cert. Witnesses Thomas Plested (son) and Catherine Green.

If they are the same couple as those on the 1881, the witness Thomas Plested is unlikely to be his son. Perhaps it was the father saying that the Thomas being married was his son. .

Ancestry shows Births 1813-1906
Thomas Plested ,(no date) Mother Sarah Plested, Father Thomas Plested

Could someone look him up please? I searched for the date 1818

I am returning to this thread as I have just noticed that on MY GR tree I have Thomas Plested married to Sarah Ford at St Botolph Aldgate on 21 July 1817. I cannot remember wher I found this info and cannot find it now. Sarah was a widow in n1851 living with son, Henry and his family. She was Sarah Wiltshire, widow. Husband Thomas died in 1849 which doesn't leave much time for Sarah to mary and be widowed again, so I assumed that Wiltshire was her maiden name. To confuse matters, on the family tree on my PC , I have her as Sarah Wiltshire, or Anthony. Again I cannot remember whhere I got the info. I am getting old and forgetful, so can anyone help?
As this may be confusing, I am looking for Sarah Ford, Marriage 1817, to Thomas Plested, or Sarah Wiltshire, Ford or Anthony born between 1789 and 1798 in Rotherhithe.
