Just had a look, but the certificate is just a small piece of paper with both their names on - so no way of knowing really whether it is him I suppose?

You might be able to find more details of his marriage if you can get hold of the parish registers.

Worth looking on Familysearch. The marriage may not show on there but they may hold the film for the parish. You can then order that in to your local LDS church to view.

Keep checking on FreeReg - they are adding more parish records all the time.

Also, another quick point, I've found on censuses that they quite often don't show a middle name or even a middle initial so maybe when searching put in less information in the search boxes.

Oh and marriages pre 1837 tend not to give much info anyway. Occasionally they give an age and usually give groom's occupation, sometimes the witness names help though.
