Hey :)

Bin and now back....

My partners Father is aged 86 and he says theres a CASHIN Family in Ballyfin. Jack CASHIN was and is his old friend.
Jack is now very frail and in a nursing home.(diddnt have time to go see the old fella)

Father in law cant ever remember seeing his friends Parents though but isnt it a very close name in spelling?.CASHON/CASHIN?

He and brother in law both think that the name CASHON is a Catholic name.

In Mountrath they have both Catholic and Church of Ireland churches. Catholic Church name is St.Fintan's.(again,sorry forgot to find out how old Church is)

Brother in law contacted the reverend Mark Townsend but he was away on his holidays but did speak to his underling.

This man gave us an application research form and also some web sites for Irish Midlands Ancestry.
He advised us to look at the web sites 1st before filling in the form.

I showed alot of locals the 1911 spelling (mountracf) and asked them what they thought it was......EVERYONE said...Mountrath! No hesitation...

I'm sorry i couldnt do more but i was only there for the w/end. A Family wedding.
I did however take a drive through Mountrath...blink and you miss it lol...very pretty place...old too.

I will scan what i have and e.mail onto you.

I still havent finished with my Ballyfin Family. I will be phoning them soon to remind them about all this and see if they can find anything else out. (like when the rev gets back from his hols)

Btw....no one had heard of the 'Judge' name before.
You have to remember that this tiny place has Familys that go back hundreds of years and everyone knows everyone.

Hi, just reading this and i had a look at www(.)griffiths valuation(.)ie remove brackets there are both Judges and Cashins in Monthrath in 1851--1856, might be worth a look.
