at the top of General? Talks about changes to the site.
I've put this on Records and Chat as well as GR haven't put it there or here. Thought it might pay to bring it to people's attention.

Please don't post on more than one board. It is against the rules and causes Confusion and Delay.

Pardon? How can this post be causing confusion and delay?

Jill 2011 (aka Warrior Princess of Cilla!) Report 9 Dec 2008 18:28

GR should have posted the thread on the top of every board. Some people only look at a few boards - so they would miss the info otherwise.

SallyF

SallyF Report 9 Dec 2008 18:35

Bilbo I only ever see you posting in a way that appears to be trying to cause trouble.
If GR had stickied here as well then I wouldn't have felt the need to post. As it is there are people on boards other than general who don't know about the info there. They are members as much as General posters and should have the info as well.

Thanks, Sally, I appreciate your posting this on all of the boards. I, for one, never go to the General Board. I simply can't understand what Bilbo is complaining about. How could it possibly cause confusion and delay?

InspectorGreenPen

InspectorGreenPen Report 9 Dec 2008 18:46

As I said, posting the same message on more than one board contravenes the GR rules, and causes Confusion and Delay.

I have just checked again with the Fat Controller, and can confirm that this is absolutely correct, so please take note.

But it's not causing confusion and delay Bilbo. It's just telling people who may only use one or two fo the boards that there are changes due.

Not a problem is it?

Bilbo if it really is annoying you then please report it! It won't worry me if they delete it. I'm just trying to make sure that everyone has a chance to know what is going on.

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 9 Dec 2008 18:57

Bilbo, I think you are confused. Naturally, if you're asking for a look-up you shouldn't post on more than one board. It causes duplication. In this case Sally was just posting information to reach the maximum number of people.
I, for one, appreciate it.

As a "looker upper", who doesn't venture onto the general board very often, I am grateful for Sally posting this thread

Thank you Sally

Fat Controller? Confusion and Delay? Thomas the Tank Engine?

Sorry but I thought you would recognize the connection.....!

At the end of the day it doesn't matter if GR post on this thread or that that thread as only a tiny percentage of members (probably less than 1%? ) actually bother to read the threads.

I have contacts with over 200 GR members, and as far as I know, only 2 have ever visited the community boards.

So whether GR publish on one two or even three boards, it is unlikely to have no significant effect whatsoever, apart from a small handful of members.

Whitenancy i think your comments are also unhelpful and designed to be decisive. One of the main reason i keep my genes account is for the community boards and the members that I also have the privilege to assist with both their genealogical research and, now and again their technical problems, for which I am glad to oblige those lesser mortals.

Margaret Manson,

Not at all, It was nor me that initially mentioned the term "Lesser Mortal"

However if the cap fits, then I have no problem with that.
