Just to add, it is often the simplest things that frustrate us, I remember my first "two-button" mouse and it took me months to learn what the right-hand button was for.

Don't be embarrassed to ask, we have all had to learn at some point.

i don't want to confuse anyone but i find it easier to highlight what i want to copy as above, then hold down the Ctrl button and press the 'c' key, this will also copy the text. then you click where you want to paste and once again hold down the Ctrl button then press the 'v' button. and it will paste it in.

just a thought incase anyone can't find the copy/paste in drop down menu or in edit. hope that makes sense, just another option.

On IE 7 (depending on how you set it up) there will typically be no "Edit" showing under the address bar,

However, it will appear (temporarily) if you hit the ALT key.

Not too thick. You simply do not know how to do it.

When you master if you will find it was simple to do. It just takes a bit of practice.

Thanks anyway - will ask my teenager to show me when she gets home!
I really appreciate all the help you and John have suggested - I'm just TOO THICK!!

Edit should be at the top of the screen under the Address box (where you type in web addresses)

To do as John suggests, make sure the mouse pointer is hovering over the highlighted text when you right click.

Another way is to highlight the text, press the Ctrl key and c (together) to copy and Ctrl and v to paste.
