I love helping people on TTF board -
but could someone please tell me how to copy & paste (in idiot terms, please)!
When I find a census record it takes ages to type it all in and then someone else has already done it!
Many thanks - Christine

Move the cursor to the start of where you want to copy, it should look like a capital I; hold down the left mouse button and move the cursor down to the end; this should highlight what you want to copy; click on Edit (at the top left of screen) click on Copy; go to where you want to paste, click on Edit and Paste.

Or... as above and once highlighted, right click your mouse and a little menu appears... scroll down and click on 'copy'
Then left click on where you want to paste the text, then right click and select paste... hey presto :)

Thanks John also -
Still can't find 'EDIT' - and no 'COPY' in drop down box!

What am I doing wrong???

Potty Report 1 Sep 2008 17:08

Edit should be at the top of the screen under the Address box (where you type in web addresses)

To do as John suggests, make sure the mouse pointer is hovering over the highlighted text when you right click.

Another way is to highlight the text, press the Ctrl key and c (together) to copy and Ctrl and v to paste.

Hi Potty
No, no words under adress box.
Thanks anyway - will ask my teenager to show me when she gets home!
I really appreciate all the help you and John have suggested - I'm just TOO THICK!!

Not too thick. You simply do not know how to do it.

When you master if you will find it was simple to do. It just takes a bit of practice.

On IE 7 (depending on how you set it up) there will typically be no "Edit" showing under the address bar,

However, it will appear (temporarily) if you hit the ALT key.
