Just thought the spelling for Rose Heffron is different to the other spellings - so could this spelling be used for Frank and John Heffron or Hefferon or Heffernon?

The closest one that I can find for John is this one:
John Haffey, Dec. Q. 1892, Prescot. (8b 717)
(Date fits but name is a little too far off, don't you think?)

It's possible that Michael's birth was never registered.

Thank you for finding Michael on the 1881 census - and I like the different spelling of the surname - maybe his birth was registered under this spelling.

I thought that all births after 1837 had to be registered - how else to find the mother's maiden name?

On the 1881 census the parents were both born Ireland also.

Just realized, summat's wrong! The parents aged 30 years between 1871-1881.

Registration began in 1837 but was not compulsory until 1875. You could try the FreeBMD using various spellings of the name for both him & his younger brother Daniel.
