I've got a copy of my great-grandfather's marriage cert from the GRO: John Chicken married Jane Heslop, 14 Dec 1868 aged 23. His father's name is given as John Chicken which ties in with stuff I have from census & IGI site. But her father's name is given as John Heslop, whereas the only family I can find in census information for 1861 in the whole of County Durham has Joseph Heslop as its head, though Jane has a brother John in that census. |

Thank you, that seems to make sense. I only know for definite what's on their marriage certificate which doesn't give her father's age nor her mother's name. Their first son was named John and the second one Joseph according to later census records. |
