Patchwork Dragon Report 24 Apr 2008 16:58

I ordered 3 on line on the 13th April....1 came yesterday (10 days) no sign of the others.....but I'm thinking what a waste of envelopes and postage if they all come separately!!

I just can not believe the difference I have, all my family are english, so I need to send for cert's, I have to wait weeks and pay £7, my husband is Scottish, I can go to Glasgow Genealogy Centre, pay £14 for the day and look at a computer were all OPR, BMD and census are for the whole of Scotland, its the original documents you are looking at, you can get copies of any certs there and then for 50p, it says across the bottom this is not an offical copy, but who needs an offical cert when its for family history.

Regards
Sandra.

I ordered some on the 4th April, due for dispatch on the 10th, someone had scribbled that date out an put 11th. Some arrived today, nearly a week late, still waiting for the vital one. lol. Typical

Will scare the posty tomorrow, waiting behind the front door. lol

Chris thanks for the reply.
I had not heard about the problem they had hit with regard the legal aspect.

Thanks

I think that was the idea but they hit a problem as by law they have to be certified copies and ones printed off the internet wouldn't be.

This link explains what is happening and what they hope to achieve...

PDH not so new now!

PDH not so new now! Report 16 Apr 2008 16:41

I ordered 4 on Mon 7th (p.m.)- got 1 on Weds 9th! (although typically it was the one I was sure of the info, not the one I needed for clues!). The next one came Mon 14th,(1 week as usual) then 1 today -16th.
On the "dispatch date" is typed "14th" but someone has scribbled it out and put 11th......?

Of course, the one I'm desperate for, for the most needed clues is the one still outstanding......

I dont know if it was something I was reading in one of the ancestry magazines I buy.
But the idea was basically that the records were digitised so instead of sending off for a copy you could access the records and view/print off your own.
