Thanks Alison for looking that up for me.
I have been trying to find cencus where John, margaret & griffith have all been on the same census and where John is a carpenter. the welsh 1881 cencus is now available free to look at so I have a couple to look at although Griffith is not on them. (my membership with Ancestry has ended)
I will look at the Aberystwyth birth you mentioned and maybe John will be born in the same area.
Thanks again Peter.

Hello Peter

If Glitterbaby has found the Margaret Roberts you're looking for, as far as I can see Llanbadarn Fawr is close to Aberystwyth, and there's a Margaret Roberts registered in the births in Jan/Feb/March 1869 in Aberystwyth, volume 11b page 75.

Thank you all for your help.
Margaret was born in 1868 in Wales. She married Henry Lynch in lambeth in 1890.on the marriage cert her father is John Roberts ( a carpenter)and a Griffith Roberts is witness, I think he is a brother but I don't know if he is older or younger.
On all the cencus I have found all the Roberts were born Wales.
Pete.

Place of birth was added to English death certificates in 1969.

Hello Peter

DId she never marry? A marriage certificate would at least give you where she was living at the time and her father's name. You may be able to match them up in a census that way.

Peter, I am going to correct that statement, I have literaly just recived a death cert from 1971, it does give place of birth and date of birth (but incorrect date on this one)
I do not know when the place of birth was first recorded on death certs though, sorry.

Thank you Keith.
It seems like that wont help me to trace where abouts in Wales she come from.
I'll have to find some other way.
Thanks again.
Pete.

Peter,

No none of that information appears on English death certs,

updated,---only on more modern ones does it state that info, but assume you mean earlier than.1970......

As far as I am aware, English death certs have never given place of birth, certainly I have never seen one.

Would a 1912 death cert tell me where my ancestor Margaret Roberts was born. The only info have is Wales.
I think I may have found a possible death in Greenwich 1912.
