Good Morning I got the following from family history on line and was wondering if someone could tell me what it means

1. Administration WIL Source MLB Date 9 Feb 1811 Groom Robert FRY aged 26 occupation weaver residing at Wilton, WIL status bac notes – Bride Sarah LANKFORD aged 26 residing at Wilton, WIL status sp notes – Bondsmen WATTERS John,lab,Fugglestone,Wilts – to be married at –
Amount paid £0.08

It looks like a marriage bond to me - gives you the details of the groom - his age, occupation and residence and same for the bride - gives the details of the Bondsman - John Watters. They made the bond on the date of 9th Feb 1811 - a check on the IGI shows they married on 12th Feb 1811 at Wilton.

A marriage bond is in effect an application form for those wanting to get married by licence. Prior to 1823 the application was in two parts - the Bond and the Allegation. After 1823 you only needed the allegation. This was done to prove that you weren't already married etc and usually the bondsman/men would be confirming that information was true.
