I am registered with gene under my married name, my maiden name only being used in my tree. I have been contacted by some one reseraching only one name, my maiden name, via genes telling me that as this surname has many diffrent ways of spelling it, would I like to pay for a dna test to prove I am related. I don't intend taking up the offer, but the puzzle is how did they find out my name?

if your on your tree by your maiden name, then can they search for your maiden name and find the tree owner and email them?
