Confused - should I be happy or sad.

These kind of discoveries are very sad aren't they? I never knew my paternal grandparents as they died young - my Dad and his sister were 10 and 13 respectively. I assumed they were the only children, but my Dad has now told me they lost 5 others in infancy. What very sad times they were. Maybe I'll put them in my tree too, as a remembrance.

Just an update on this thread. I received the death certificate and the baby lived for 3 months. She died of suffocation due to being in bed with parents. There was an Inquest and the Coroner recorded the death as accidential. This may be why it was never mentioned in the family.

How sad is that. You can understand why noone spoke about her however she now has her rightful place on your tree.

So much sadness for parents in days gone by.
I knew my father had a brother but researching my tree I found he also had 3 sisters - one died 5 years before he was born, the others died when he was 5, six months apart aged 2 years and 4 years.
