What years do you have for US census records? Can you also access Canadian census, and if so what years? Have several emigrants from the UK and Ireland , also Continental Europe (Poland, Russia)I'd like to follow up on. Please reply via this email address, which I use only for my research: [email protected]

Fiona, There are lots of Thomas and George Spencers on the 1870 who would be about the right age but I am not finding them together with parents. Would you know their mother's first name? I don't see them on the 1871 at least anyone born in the US. I saw George had a middle initial W on the 1881, did Thomas have one? I didn't see him on the 1881. Rose

Sandra, Checked the census records to see if I could find him to narrow down an immigration period. There is a William Fitzsimmons who is the right age and from Scotland living in Rhode Island on the 1870 and 1880. Was his mother's name Catherine or wife's name Margaret (from Ireland)? Rose

Annie, There are several passenger records for William Holmes arriving between 1851-1864 but they don't have ages at the time of arrival. Another thing I found odd is that if he married in 1864 and all his children were born in Utah as it shows on the 1880, I cannot find any of them on the 1870, anywhere. Weird Rose

Hello Rosemary I have newly traced a missing great aunt and husband to Canada, sometime after 1881, but they do not appear to be on the Canadian 1901 census. Could you have a look at American 1910 please to see if they crossed the border. James Cameron would be around 50 in 1910 and his wife Maggie (Margaret ) around 48/49. She was born in Scotland, not sure about James They had a daughter Ellen born Ontario 1897 and Mary born 1891 Thank you Kay

Ness, sorry for the typo. I meant to write 1821. I did another search with the possible 1831 date but still no one was found. If I just put the last name with exact spelling in the search criteria for all countries and all records, the only thing that results 1 record on the 1891 UK census and 1 record on the 1901 UK census. Not getting any results on the LDS using exact spelling. The name must have gone through several spelling changes over the years. The most common spelling that appears is Redsell and Redsall. Let me know if you get any new information and I'll do another search. Rose

Deborah, There are 2 Boaks on the 1900 in Pittsburgh, Domanic b 1896 in PA and Magdalia b 1876 in PA. There are many others who are living in other counties in PA and lots more living in other parts of the country On the 1910 there is only Clyde I Boak in Pittsburgh, born 1885 in PA and several more Boaks in other PA counties. Again, lots more in other parts of the country. Are you interested in anyone in particular? Rose

Vanessa Report 5 Mar 2005 19:05

Thanks very much for looking. Looking at these old family tree papers again I see that one notes the birth as being 1821 and the other 1831 but definitely in Portsmouth, son of Thomas and Elizabeth. If 1831 then the emigration might be a bit later. Never mind. Many thanks again.

Ness, It was enough information but didn't find any records for him on the immigration or census records. He is not showing up on the LDS site either at least not born around 1811. Do you where in England he was born? Rose

Vanessa

Vanessa Report 5 Mar 2005 15:52

Thanks so much for this offer. I'm not sure whether you can help me...the info I have is a bit vague. On some old family records I have a note that Robert Restall emigrated to America. As he was born in 1821 I guess he would have left England somewhere between 1840 and 1860. Is this just too vague?! Many thanks.
